Tips on Breaking Habits:

biting nailsKnow your enemy. You were not born with this bad habit; it is something you have learned. Just as you learned this habit you can unlearn it. You CAN control it – You WILL control it – You have started NOW. Realise why you want to change think of your long term goal and also your short term goal.

Imagine yourself with the habit – now think of yourself free of the habit and the benefits to you now – keep thinking of how you are NOW and free of the habit.

Practise changes in your everyday life, crossing your legs or arms differently.

Start afresh. The past is the past and that is where it belongs.

Believe in yourself and your future.

If you make a mistake, realise it, laugh about it and start again. To help change your habit, change your own routine. If your best friend had a problem what would be the best advice you could give them? Why would you not take your own best advice?

Take strength from moments in your past when you felt confident and strong. Think of these times and put them around you again using the same strength and confidence to step forward to your new future. Carry your ring of confidence with you and use it often.

Write down all the things that you would like to achieve and do. Plan your goals:

  • Short term - 0 to 2 years
  • Medium term - 2 to 5 years
  • Long term goals - 5+ years

Write out your achievements. Write out your wish list

* Remember it is easier to change yourself than another person.
