LifeStyle: Lose weight – stress - clutter
Put your knife and folk down while you eat and chew slower. Remember to stop eating before you are full – gives your tummy a chance to catch up. Only eat when you are hungry. While you eat, do just that – turn off the TV – put aside the book – just eat. Always leave 10% of your food on the plate and throw it away – or give to the dog! If you don’t like eating alone share a meal with a friend, partner or lover. Laugh More – Rent the funniest film you can think of. Fake it – and Smile…Try it! Learn First Aid Learn another Language Clear clutter from your life, home and wardrobe! Friends – Tell a friend you love them Family – Tell them you love them….often. Diets - Dump them! Clean – Keep clean with Ecover – better for the world also. Sleep is good and rest excellent – take a 20-30 minute break in the day to chill out. Sun - Wear protection and enjoy it in small quantities half an hour a day is good. Teeth - Have regular check ups and ask your dentist about changing your mercury fillings. Find out how many countries are banning mercury fillings. Hobby/Interest - Do something you enjoy – it is ok to have fun. Smile - Aim to smile at 3 new people every day – in the shop – while walking. Cheer someone else up with a smile and you cheer yourself up also….this could catch on we could turn into a nation of smiling happy people! Ever heard of the ripple effect? Goals - Plan them and work towards them. Have Short, Medium and Long term goals. Wish list - Have one! Start by putting one thing on your wish list and take your first step to achieving it. One step every day can take you a long way. De-stress and relax yourself, use a quick fix of TFT or Meditate for 10 minutes a day – longer if you like. Kindness - Be kind to yourself and allow yourself to do something you really enjoy every day or every week. Go on spoil yourself it need only be for 5 minutes. Work - If you work at something and you enjoy it does it count as work? If you are unhappy in your work sort it out or plan where you would be happy and what you would enjoy working at. Breath - This is good for you! Every day in the morning leap out of bed go to the window and take in three good deep breaths….breath in……exhale…..Fill your lungs and notice the world out there that you are a part of. New day – new you! And remember no matter what happens throughout the day…just keep breathing! Problems - Write them all down, prioritise them and work through each one until you have the solution yourself or realise if you need help from another source, ask for help. Not sure what to do about something? What does your gut tell you? Generally your gut is more reliable than your head or your heart. Purposely leave small amounts of food on your plate. Think and talk about your feelings when you leave food on the plate. Use smaller plates – this fulfils your psychological need to see a full plate, while reducing your calorie intake. Or just eat smaller portions. Look at clothes shops before shopping for food with an idea of what you would look great in. Break the habit of treating yourself with food, reward is enough when you get to the size that you wish to be. Stressed? Beat it NOW by living in the present tense. Anxiety is unhealthy and disabling so take control of it. Sort your worries into three groups: those you can fix, those you need help to fix and those that are beyond your control. Tackle the first two and learn to accept the things that are impossible to change. Fake It – and smile, the more belief you have in yourself, the more confidence others will have in you. Stop selling yourself short, never talk yourself down, praise yourself for your achievements and be positive in all that you do. This may be a little tough to start with but it does get much easier the more you practice. Morale – Have a DIY make-over; check your clothes, accessories, hairstyle and make-up do they suit you or are they past their sell by date. Make a list of what works for you and what you would like to change – then plan the changes. Cure the natural way. Look at natural remedies like garlic which is great for the heart and circulation as it helps to reduce your blood pressure. It also has an anti-viral action that can keep colds at bay. Surround yourself with things that delight you that you really enjoy. Go through your home, room by room, drawer by drawer, cupboard by cupboard. Sell it – pass it – bin it and recycle what you can. Seize the day – Try new experiences, change your perspective, enjoy the unknown and grasp new situations with both hands. Have fun with new – meeting new people, eating new foods or going a new way. Spend time in the country or your local park, walking, breathing and enjoying Mother Nature. Keep a Diary of what you eat and drink for two weeks and make changes. If you in your 20’s the chances are you are a diet expert anyway and you know what is best for your body. In your 40’s congratulations you have your PhD! So what are you going to do with all your knowledge? Stressed? Fight it off with a relaxing bath with a few drops of aromatherapy oil added to your bath. Set the scene with some candles and play soft music. Massage your body afterwards with oils – better still let your partner do it!
